Meet the Web Development Team

The Adopt a School Programme is run as part of Career Advice Australia. An Australian Government initiative. This website was developed by students from the Canterbury Bankstown area over several weeks.

Canterbury Bankstown Career Connection facilitated the project between local employer Matrix IT, Zacharias Kondaxis and not for profit organisation, All Stars Baton Twirlers.

The aim of this programme is to build links between businesses, students, teachers and the broader community, through activities that increase knowledge and opportunities for careers and further education.

If you are a local employer that would like to be involved in an Adopt a School Project with local students contact Ursula McGeown from Canterbury Bankstown Career Connections on 9773 4933 or ursulam@careerconnections.net.au

Mohamed Ali Ahmed

Scanning and Graphics

Belmore Boys High

Mohamed scanned all the clippings and press releases you see in the website.  This took hours of work requiring attention to detail. It's a good thing Mohamed was up to the job, never loosing focus....except of course when he got hungry.  Also ten points to Mohamed who though he got a parking ticket, and had his car flooded during the wild Sydney weather in June, never lost focus and worked like a trooper to achieve customer satisfaction, except of course whenever there was a slice of pizza to be had.

Mohamad Bazzi

Graphics Compression and Formatting

Punchbowl Boys High

"Bazzi" as we called him created the photo gallery, as well as implementing a lot of the plans drafted by Andrew.  He performed miracles with the graphics, getting pictures that where up to 1mb in size down to only a fraction of that size, and still made them look good.  I never saw Bazzi without the beany on so there is every chance I would not recognise him in the street.  My suspicion is he hid an emergency slice of pizza under there just in case he ever got really really hungry.

Elias Gerges

Multi Media Editing

Belmore Boys High

Gerges (who was absolutely adamant his name was pronounced "gorgeous") was perhaps the only one that did not think about food most of the time.  He had other things on his mind.  I am sure he broke the record for number of text messages in a day. He is truly a multi-tasker - one hand on the mobile, text messaging, and the other doing a very good job editing a baton twirling video, getting it down from 2 minutes, to 30 seconds, and from 90mb to just under 5mb.  Very impressive "gorgeous" - well done!

Andrew Nguyen

Team Leader

Chester Hill High

Andrew shows great attention to detail (except when he gets hungry and demands pizza).  He also showed good team management skills.  Andrew created the layout and design for the All Stars Baton Twirlers website.  He also looked after a number of the more complicated issues and delegated like a future leader (which meant he had a lot of free time on his hands to think about food and pizza).
